During school days the daily kitchen routine for our three cooks Kaddy Dibba, Fatou Sabally and Kaddy Jawneh starts at 7.30 a.m. from Monday to Thursday. First they kindle a fire on which they place a big rice pot. In there they daily cook 19 kg of rice for our kids. In parallel they prepare 2 kg of onions and according to the season fresh vegetables or fish. Shortly before 11 am they arrange the rice with vegetable or fish on blue and green plastic plates. The 160 plates then fill in the whole kitchen area.
After a well-organized and strict followed procedure the children from the highest age group class sprint at first and punctual on 11 am to the kitchen and lineup. With quick moves our cooks and teachers together hand the plates over to them. In the end the youngest are in turn – but don´t worry – all our children also the last one will get his plate.
After everything is cleaned up, it is around one pm and the kitchen will be closed – till the procedure starts again on the next day!
